| History: | "Originally named Poplar Point for the abundance of poplar trees in the area. The trees were timbered around 1900 and the land was converted to farmland. J B Semple bought the land in 1934 and named the cape portion ""Shadow Point"" because of the impressive long shadows cast by the large oak trees at sunset. (US-T121)" |
